The 1924 Olympics is the only time that a side horse vault has been contested at the Olympics as a separate medal event. French athletes swept the medals with the gold won by Albert Séguin, who scored a perfect 10.000 to win the event. He also won silver in rope climbing and the team event in Paris. The silver medals on side horse were shared by Jean Gounotand François Gangloff, who both scored 9.930.
