German-born gymnast Christian Deubler finished fifth with the South St. Louis Turnverein at the 1904 Olympics, and participated in three individual events. Deubler was a German living in the US, who received US citizenship in 1910. It is debatable whether his nationality should be considered as German or American at the 1904 Olympics, but he is considered by the International Olympic Committee as a United States competitor, since he represented an American club.
