Biography

Paul Stendel competed in four events at the 1904 St. Louis Olympics. He competed in the individual all-around (64th); the individual all-around, apparatus work (108th); the individual all-around, field sports (=104th); and the team all-around, apparatus work and field sports (101st). Stendel represented the Turnverein Vorwärts in Cleveland. Stendel was born in Berlin but came to the US as a youth, settling in Cleveland, where he worked as an illustrator for a publishing company.
