Biography

German rower Armin Eichholz won two Olympic medals with the eights. Firstly, he won a gold medal at Seoul in 1988, representing West Germany, and at Barcelona he won a bronze medal representing re-unified Germany. Eichholz also participated in the World Championships from 1985 when he finished seventh with the coxed fours. In 1986 and 1987 he finished sixth, both with the eights, and in 1991, Eichholz won the gold medal with the coxed fours. In 1993, he was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award.

At national championships Eichholz won the coxed fours title in 1991. By profession, he became a graduated mechanical engineer and worked in the energy supply business, eventually rising to a senior management position.
