Hans Eller was a member of the gold winning coxed fours from the Berlin Rowing Club in 1932, although his best finish at German Championships was second in 1930. In addition he finished third with the eights at the 1934 German Championship. He was a lieutenant in the German Army and lost his life in a POW camp. His name is engraved on a natural stone stele erected on the military cemetery near Kursk-Besedino in Russia.
