Biography

Between 1941 and 1953 Tibor Nádas was the rower of the FTC and after two years he had already won his first championship title. He won a total of 7 senior Hungarian championship titles: coxed two (1), coxless four (2), coxed four (2), and eight (2). As the part of the coxless fours he participated at the 1948 London Olympics. At the College World Championships in Budapest in 1949, he finished first as a member of the coxless fours. In 1952 with the Hungarian eights he participated at the Helsinki Olympics, but finished unplaced. This disappointment also contributed to his retirement from racing after a year.

Although he stopped competing in 1953, he did not break away from rowing and his club. In 1955 he became a member of the Board of the then Hungarian Rowing Association, with him serving as the chairman of the youth committee. In November 1955 he became the manager of the rowing department of the Budapest Kinizsi SK. Between 1957 and 1962 he headed the FTC’s rowing division. In 1962 he signed a contract with Vasas as a coach, and from 1963 he was appointed the head of the division, where he remained until his death, just as he served his sport as a competition judge until his death. In 1968 he was involved in a car accident where his wife was seriously injured. Nádas died indirectly in the accident due to concern over his wife’s condition, as a result of heart problems.
