István Sándor rowed the eight for Hungary at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. He initially had been chosen for the 1948 Olympics, but was dropped from the team for some suspected anti-Communist activities. Sándor emigrated to the United States in 1969 where he worked as a taxi driver. He eventually settled in Canada where he lived out his life.
