Lorenzo Carboncini competed at four Olympic Games across there classes, eights (1996), coxless fours (2000 and 2008) and coxless pairs 2012. His best result was in 2000 when Carboncini, Riccardo Dei Rossi, Valter Molea and Carlo Mornati finished just 38 hundredths of second behind the Great Britain gold-medal winning crew, led by Steven Redgrave.
