Giuseppe Galante was among the best Italian rowers in the 1960s. He competed at three Olympic Games and won silver medals in 1960 and 1964 in coxless fours and coxed fours, respectively. He later finished fourth at Mexico City in 1968.
Galante competed at the first edition of the World Championships in Lucerne in September 1962, finishing fourth in the four. At the European Championships he won gold in Praha in 1961 in coxless fours, adding a bronze medal three years later in Amsterdam in coxed fours. Galante also won a silver medal at the 1963 Mediterranean Games in Napoli in coxed fours.
