Competitive rower Karel Neffe represented Czechoslovakia at international competitions from 1971 to 1983. During his career Neffe competed at three Olympic Games, winning bronze, as well as multiple editions of the World Championships. At the 1972 München Olympics he was part of the crew that won bronze in the coxed fours, finishing behind the teams from East and West Germany. Neffe competed in the coxed fours at the 1976 Montréal Games, and in the eight at the 1980 Moskva Games, finishing fourth each time. His first medal at the World Championships came in 1977 in Amsterdam with bronze in the coxed pairs with Karel Mejta, Jr. and Jiří Pták. The same trio then won silver at the 1978 championships at Lake Karapiro in New Zealand. Neffe won his final medal at the World championships in 1982 in the coxed fours. After his rowing career he worked as a coach, with his son Karel also competing at the Olympics.
