Appointed to the Naval Academy from Missouri, Ed Stevens was the stroke-oar for their eight at the Olympic Games. He also rowed that oar in leading Annapolis to three straight wins at the IRAs and Eastern Sprints, starting in 1952. After graduation he became a career naval officer and also did some graduate study in nuclear engineering at MIT.
