Biography

Austrian diver Anja Richter-Libiseller participated at four editions of Summer Olympics: Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, and Beijing 2008. Partnering Marion Reiff in 2004 in the synchronized platform event, she finished an unfortunate fourth as her best Olympic result.

In 1997 Richter-Libiseller won a bronze medal at the European Championships and added a silver medal the following year. At the 2001 World Championships she placed fourth again. Domestically, Richter-Libiseller won 35 national titles.

Anja was the sister of Jürgen Richter and the granddaughter of discus thrower Liesl Perkaus. From 2006-08, Anja was the press officer for the Austrian Swimming Federation, and from 2007, was the press officer for the Vienna Organising Committee for the 2008 European Football Championship. Afterwards, Richter-Libiseller became an advisor in the sports office of the Ministry of Defence. In 2015, she became press spokeswoman for the then Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann.

Richter-Libiseller later married Austrian politician Christian Deutsch and raised two children.
