Rauf Aboul Seoud trained as a diver while studying at Cairo’s Police School. A specialist in the platform, he placed 12th in that event at the 1936 Berlin Olympics and 22nd at the 1948 London Games. His lengthy career extended to the 1951 Mediterranean Games, where he took home a bronze medal. By career he was a police officer and rose high in the ranks of the Cairo police prior to his retirement. His son Waguih was also a diver who represented Egypt in the platform competition at the 1968 Mexico City Games and took home three bronze medals from the Mediterranean Games.
