Arvid Wallman was 19-years-old at the time of his surprise win in the plain high diving at the 1920 Olympics. He continued to compete on the highest level well into the 1930s. His specialty was the high straight header, which he always performed with high speed, reliability and style. Wallman graduated from the Chalmers University of Technology in 1923 and worked as a civil engineer. His granddaughter Susanne Wetteskog also took part in two Olympics (1976 and 1980) as a diver.
