Austrian sailor Andreas Hagara partnered his brother Roman at the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympic in the multihull (tornado) class. The brothers placed seventh. Four years later at Atlanta, Hagara partnered Florian Schneeberger and went on to finish an unfortunate fourth. Both won three medals in the European Tornado Championship, gold in 1996, silver in 1993 and 1995.
Hagara won in total 15 medals at World and European Championships in the tornado class and was the first and only Austrian skipper at the America’s Cup. Hagara was world champion in 1987, runner-up in 1999, and third in 1990. At European Championships he won gold in 1990, 1996, and 2003, silver in 1993, 1995, 1998, and 1999, and bronze in 2000. Hagara became managing director and club manager of the Golfclub am Attersee (GCA) in 2010.
