Biography

Juan Lavenás was an Argentine track and field athlete who competed in the hurdles and sprint races. Lavenás won his first medal at the South American Championships in Athletics in 1933 when he finished third in the 110 metres hurdles. Four years later at the championships in São Paulo he won gold in both the 110 metres hurdles and the 4 x 100 metres relay. A year earlier Lavenás had reached the semi-finals in both the 110 metres and 400 metres hurdles at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. At the Games he also finished fourth in the 4 x 100 metres relay with compatriots Antonio Sande, Carlos Hofmeister, and Tomás Beswick.

Personal Bests: 100 – unknown; 110H – 14.8 (1935); 400H – 54.5 (1936).
