Mildred Fizzell

Mildred Fizzell’s short career in track and field was highlighted by her appearance at the 1932 Summer Olympics, having taken the spot on the 4×100 metre relay team that had originally gone to Mary Vandervliet. At the Games she won a silver medal in this event, alongside Mary Frizzell, Lillian Palmer, and Hilda Strike. In 1933 she was Canadian Champion in the 60 metres and, the following year, was selected to represent Canada in the 100 metres at the 1934 British Empire Games, but tore a muscle after arriving in London and was unable to participate. She never completely recovered from this injury and was forced to retire from athletics soon thereafter.
