At the 1920 Olympics in Antwerpen, René Lorain failed to qualify for the second round of the 100 m and went out in the second round of the 200. He did win a silver medal with the French 4x100 m relay team, beaten only by the US team. In 1921 Lorain was the French 100 m champion, and in 1920 and 1923 was runner-up in the 200 metres.
