Davian Clarke

Davian Clarke was a long sprinter who ran for Jamaica at the 1996, 2000, and 2004 Olympics, winning a bronze medal in 1996 in the 4x400 relay. He ran collegiately at the University of Miami in the United States, winning the 1996 NCAA title in the 400 metres, and making the final of the 400 all four years (1995-98). Clarke also won the NCAA 400 metre indoor title in 1998. He was twice a finalist in the 400 at the Olympics, finishing seventh in 1996 and sixth in 2004.

At the World Championships Clarke won four silver medals in the 4x400 with Jamaica, in 1995, 1997, 1999, and 2003, and added a bronze medal in 2005. He also helped Jamaica win World Indoor titles in the 4x4 in 2003 and 2004 and was a silver medalist in 2004 in the indoor 400 metres.

Clarke won multiple international medals outside of the Olympics and World Championships. He won gold in the 4x400 at the 1999 and 2003 Pan American Games, has two medals in the 4x400 at the Commonwealth Games, with gold in 1998 and bronze in 2006, and, at the 1998 Central American and Caribbean Games, won silver in the 4x400 and bronze in the 400 metres.

Born in Jamaica, Clarke moved to the USA in 1993 and attended Piper High School in Sunrise, Florida. Clarke later went into athletics coaching, first at the University of North Carolina and later at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).
