Ângelo Victoriano was one of the greatest basketball players in Africa, with him winning eight AfroBasket titles, 11 Angolan League championships, and seven Angolan Cups. Victoriano was just 14-years-old when he joined Petro de Luanda in 1982, spending the next decade with the club. He had spells with Queluz, Barreirense, and ASA, before returning to play a further season with Petro de Luanda in 1996. He finished his career playing for Primeiro de Agosto from 1997 to 2006 before coaching the side until 2009. His domestic record was impressive, with him winning 11 league titles (1989–90, 1992, 1996–97, 2000–05) and seven Angolan Cups (1990–91, 1997, 2002–03, 2005–06).
Victoriano had a remarkable international career, with him playing for the Angola national team from 1995 until 2007. He had his first success at the AfroBasket tournament in 1987 when he was part of the team that won bronze. He then went on to win a record eight titles from 1987 to 2005, only missing out on gold at the 1997 tournament when the Angolan team finished third. He represented Angola at four editions of the Olympics; 1992 Barcelona, 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney, and 2004 Athina. At the Athina Games he had the honour of being the team’s captain and the flagbearer for Angola at the Opening Ceremony. Victoriano’s brothers Justino and Edmar also played basketball for the national team.
