Before his Olympic participation in 1964, Somsakdi Tongsuke was a semi finalist in the 400 m at the Asian Games in 1962. He later participated in the Asian Games 1966 and 1970. In 1966, he was 6th in the 200 m, in 1970 he was a member of the Thai 4×100 m gold winning team (with Anat Ratanapol, Panus Ariyamongkol, and the non-Olympian Kanoksakdi Chantasanont).
