After graduating from the University of Illinois, Kinsey received a master’s degree from Oberlin and a Ph.D. from Michigan in kinesiology. He taught and coached at Oberlin for 31 years, then went to Earlham College in Indiana as director of physical education and later held a similar post at Delta College in Bay City, Michigan, until his 1967 retirement.
