Igor Boldin played most of his career from 1981-2002 with one club, Spartak Moskva, except for short spells with HPK Hämeenlinna (Finland 1993-95), TuTo Turku (Finland 1995-96) and Brynäs IF (Sweden 1996-97), finishing his career in 2002-03 with THK Tver. With Spartak Moskva, Boldin never won a Soviet title, but he won silver at the Soviet Championships in 1982-84 and 1991, and a bronze in 1986, winning another bronze in 1992 at the CIS Championships. Internationally Boldin played 15 matches for the Soviet national team from 1983-91, but never in any major international tournament. He was also part of the Unified Team hockey team that won gold at the 1992 Winter Olympics and was on the 1992 Russian World Championship team that finished fifth.
