Greg Brown played college hockey at Boston College, where he was a two-time finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, given to the top collegiate player in the US. He was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round of the 1986 NHL entry draft. Brown would play parts of four seasons in the NHL, starting with the Sabres, but later with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Winnipeg Jets, and he played only 94 NHL games in his career. From 1990-95 he played much of the time in the American or International Hockey League, appearing with the Rochester Americans, San Diego Gulls, and Cleveland Lumberjacks. Brown played internationally for the US at the 1988 and 1992 Winter Olympics, and the 1989, 1990, and 1998 World Championships. He finished his career in Europe, playing for various teams from 1995-2001, including Rogle BK Angelholm (SWE), VEU Feldkirch (Alpenliga), EHC Kloten (SUI), EV Landshut (GER), and Kölner Haie (Cologne Sharks – GER).
