Ted Drury played college hockey at Harvard, graduating in 1993. He had been a second-round selection by the Calgary Flames in the 1989 NHL entry draft. Drury started his NHL career in 1993 with the Flames, but later played for the Hartford Whalers (1993-95), Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (1996-2000), New York Islanders (1999-2000), and Columbus Blue Jackets (2000-01), appearing in 414 games. Drury also played a lot in the minor leagues and internationally. He played with the Chicago Wolves of the International Hockey League in 2000-01, and in the American League, appeared with the Springfield Indians (1994-95), the Albany River Rats (2001-02), and the Lowell Lock Monsters (2001-02). He then left for Europe, playing from 2002-07 in Germany with the Hamburg Freezers, Kassel Huskies, and Krefeld Penguins. In addition to his Winter Olympic appearances for the US, Drury competed at the 1990 and 1991 World Junior Championship, and skated at the World Championships in 1993, 1998, and 2003. Drury’s younger brother, Chris, also played in the NHL.
