Biography

From 1982 through 1984 forward Fabian Joseph played ice hockey with the Victoria Cougars of the Western Hockey League prior to being selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 1984 National Hockey League entry draft. He never played a game in the NHL, however, and spent 1984-1985 with the Ontario Hockey League’s Toronto Marlboros. He joined the Canadian men’s national ice hockey team in 1985 and skated exclusively with the squad until 1987. He had a stint in the American Hockey League with the Nova Scotia/Cape Breton Oilers from 1987 through 1990, followed by a year in Italy for 36 games with Brunico SG. In 1992 he became the first person from Nova Scotia to play for Canada in Olympic ice hockey, scoring two goals in eight games and taking home a silver medal at that year’s Winter Olympics. From 1992 through 1993 he suited up with Switzerland’s Chur EHC, but earned a second silver medal at the 1994 Winter Olympics, playing in eight matches but scoring no goals. He ended his playing career with the International Hockey League’s Milwaukee Admirals, skating for them for 161 games from 1993 through 1996. He landed his first coaching job as an assistant with the Admirals in 1997, and has since coached for Dalhousie University, the St. Marie’s Huskies, and, most recently as of 2009, the Moncton Wildcats.
