Biography

Ludomir Slendziński was a Polish painter, sculptor and professor, one of the leading representatives of the so-called Vilnius school. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. In 1925 he became professor for painting at the University of Vilnius. On several occasions, he traveled and worked in Italy and France, Spain, England, the Middle East and Africa.

In 1945 Slendziński moved to Kraków and taught at the Technical Universität. Influenced by Russian neoclassicism, the Vilnius School, and Italian Renaissance art, his works consisted of figural compositions, portraits, murals and sculptures. His oil painting Wioślarz (A Rower) is shown in the catalog of the art competitions.
