Biography

Taiwanese-American tennis player Janet Lee was born in Lafayette, Indiana in 1976 and competed for Taiwan at international tournaments. Lee played professionally from 1995 to 2006, achieving a career-best singles ranking of #79 in the world in April 1998 and a doubles ranking of #20 in the world in February 2003. As a doubles specialist she won three WTA titles during her career; two with Wynne Prakusya (2001, 2003) and one with Anna Kournikova (2002). Lee was successful at the Asian Games with a team gold in 1998, gold in the mixed doubles in 2002, and bronze in the team event, also in 2002. At the 1999 Summer Universiade in Palma de Mallorca she won gold in both the singles and doubles, pairing with Wang Shi-Ting in the latter. In 2000 Lee paired with Weng Tzu-Ting in the doubles at the Sydney Olympics but was eliminated in the first round.
