Canadian-born Brian Stankiewicz was an Austrian ice hockey goalkeeper and member of the Olympic national teams at the 1988 Calgary and 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics. The Austrian teams were eliminated in the group stages and finished ninth and 12th, respectively. Stankiewicz won 52 international caps.
Domestically, Stankiewicz played in Canada and the United States with the Richmond Hill Rams and Bowling Green State University. After moving to Austria, he played with HC Salzburg, Wiener EV, WAT Stadlau, Innsbrucker EV, GEV Innsbruck, and EC Graz. In 1989, Stankiewicz won the Austrian national title with Innsbruck.
After returning to Canada, Stankiewicz completed his coaching training and ran a summer school for young players in Toronto. By profession, he worked in his father’s concrete producing company.
