James Tyler was the brother of Joe Tyler, who rode a bobsled for the United States at the 1980 Winter Olympics. James lived in Denver in 1984, but had grown up in Illinois, where he was a track & field standout at Grant High School in Fox Lake. He also competed at the 1979 World Championships.
