Biography

Alfred Wróbel was the middle of the three Wróbel brothers who all played ice hockey for Poland at the Olympics. After working in the local coal mine Wróbel joined the Górnik Katowice ice hockey team, winning four Polish league titles with the club. He also played 40 matches for the national team and scored 13 goals. In 1952 he made his first of two appearances at the Olympics, playing eight matches at the Oslo Games. Four years later Wróbel played in four matches and scored a goal at the Cortina d’Ampezzo Games.
