With Innsbruck taking over the hosting of the 1976 Olympic Winter Games when Denver withdrew as host, all the facilities from the 1964 Olympic Winter Games were available. The Alpine skiing events in 1976 were contested at the same locations as in 1964, with the only exception being the women’s downhill. The men’s downhill was held at Patscherkofel, near Igls, in both years, and in 1964 the women’s downhill was held on the same mountain, moving it to Axamer Lizum in 1976. All the technical events were contested at Axamer Lizum.
