The 470 class raced on the Bravo course, as did the Finns. Spaniards Luis Doreste and Roberto Molina so dominated this event that they did not have to start the final race to win the gold medal. The two were born in the Canary Islands and raced out of Barcelona. Doreste came back in 1992 and won a gold medal in the Flying Dutchman class.
