Following his X Games victory in June 2024, Argentina’s José Torres Gil’s monster-winning run of 94.82 points claimed a well-deserved Paris 2024 gold medal, his country’s first-ever individual gold medal in cycling, and their first of any color in Paris. The 2023 World champion Kieran Reilly (GBR) had a final chance to capture gold, and ended up with silver (93.91), showcasing his mastery of complex tricks like the quadruple tail whip.
Despite crashing out on the first trick of his first run and losing a shoe, France’s Anthony Jeanjean, who had been the center of attention and a favorite for gold, settled for bronze on home soil (93.76). Surprisingly, Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Logan Martin (AUS) missed the podium after making uncharacteristic mistakes, and crashed out of both of his runs, finishing ninth.
