The competition consisted of three phases – slalom, freestyle, and long-distance. Sixteen (16) sailors started with the event won by Canadian Karen Morch, who won the slalom phase, was third in freestyle, and fifth in the long-distance phase. Morch was followed by two Americans – Anne Gardner-Nelson and Andrea Livingston.
