Erin Porter competed in short-track speed skating at the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympics. Porter was first overall at the 1997 US Short-Track Championships, and won a gold medal that year at the World Cup. She later won a bronze medal in the relay at the 1998 World Championships.
Porter graduated from Empire State College in Saratoga Springs, New York and later earned a doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Washington. Graduating from Saratoga Springs High School in 1998, she was inducted into the Blue Streaks Hall of Fame in 2012.
