Anky van Grunsven is the all-time leader among equestrian Olympians with nine (9) medals, and she is the only rider to win an individual event three times in a row, doing so in the individual dressage, which she won in 2000 (on Bonfire), 2004 and 2008 (on Salinero). In addition, she placed second in that event in 1996, and has won four silver team medals (in 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2008) and one team bronze. Van Grunsven has also excelled in other competitions, winning the individual gold in the World Equestrian Games of 1994 and 2006, and winning the dressage World Cup eight times (1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008).
