Biography

Austrian fencer Benny Wendt was a five-time Olympian from Los Angeles 1984 to Athens 2000. His best results were two unfortunate fourth places with the foil teams in 1984 and 1996. Individually he came, respectively, 17th, 18th, 8th, 23rd, and 20th. At the European Championships Wendt won one gold (1993) one silver (2000), and two bronze medals (1994, 1998). He also finished fourth and fifth respectively at the 1989 and 1990 World Championships.

Wendt studied at the Wien (Vienna) University of Economics and Business. After his active career, he founded his own fencing school, the Fencing Agency Benny Wendt. He also became sporting director at his home club Union Fechtclub Wien (Vienna).
