Bizhan Zarnegar was a fencer at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, unusually competing in all six fencing events across all three disciplines – foil, épée, and sabre. He was captain of the Iranian national team from 1969-79 and again from 1989-95. Zarnegar was Asian Champion in individual épée in 1968. He later coached and led the Iranian women’s team at the 1974 Asian Games, where they won a team foil gold medal. Zarnegar died after a long battle with gastrointestinal cancer.
