Larry Anastasi graduated from Temple University in 1957, but only started fencing in his junior year in college. He went on to win two national titles in two weapons, foil in 1961 and épée in 1963, making him one of the last Americans to do so. At the 1963 Pan American Games, Anastasi won team golds in both foil and épée. He lived in the Philadelphia area and competed for Salle Csiszar. At the time of his Olympic participation he worked as a brickwork contractor. Anastasi was inducted into the US Fencing Hall of Fame in 2013.
