Robert Marx competed in épée at the 1984, 1988, and 1992 Olympics. He won two medals at the Pan American Games in team épée, a silver in 1987 and a bronze in 1991. He was 1985 US Fencing Association Division I national champion and placed third in 1991. Marx competed at seven World Championships – 1982, 1985-87, and 1989-91. His brother, Michael Marx, competed at four Olympics (1984-96), mostly in foil. Robert Marx started Marx Enterprises in 1992, a stenciling company that places stencils on fencing uniforms.
