Gernot, brother of Harald Faderbauer, was an Austrian rower participating at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics. He teamed up with Martin Kobau, Harald Hofmann and Christoph Schmölzer in the lightweight coxless fours and reached the B-final but came last and placed 12th.
Between 1989 and 2000, Faderbauer won 26 Austrian national titles, 14 in boats without weight restrictions and 12 in lightweight boats. From 1993-95 he was a team member of the Austrian lightweight quadruple sculls at the World Championships and won three gold medals. Faderbauer later immigrated to Canada and became a fitness coach.
