Biography

Pete Sutton was a sprinter who ran for Canada at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. He won the 1952 Canadian Championships at 200 metres. Sutton then attended the University of Michigan on a track scholarship, eventually receiving a master’s degree in geology.

Sutton worked initially in the oil industry where he invented a heating apparatus for oil extraction. He later settled in New York city working in the financial sector with Dominion Securities, McLeod Young Weir, and Merrill Lynch. He eventually moved to Trinidad where he owned a farm. He ran the New York City Marathon in his later years and in his 80s and 90s Sutton had a health and fitness blog and was known for his youthfulness and vitality.
