Marcel Duriez

Marcel Duriez was a French athlete who specialised in the 110 metres hurdles. Duriez set 13 national records and was the first Frenchman to run under 14 seconds in the event. He represented France 48 times from 1959 to 1968.

Duriez competed at three consecutive Olympic Games; 1960 Roma, 1964 Tokyo, and 1968 Mexico City. At his first Olympics, aged 19, he reached the quarter-finals but finished in last place in his heat. At the 1964 Tokyo Olympics Duriez finished in sixth place in the final. Four years later he reached another Olympic final, finishing in seventh place, and breaking the French record in the process.

Duriez won two silver medals at the Mediterranean Games (1959, 1963), and a bronze medal at the 1966 European Athletics Championships.
