AAU individual sprint, Harriet Bland was a member of the St. Louis AC team that won the AAU relay in 1935. In Berlin she ran the first stage on the relay team that took the gold medals after the Germans, who had set a world record in the heats but dropped the baton on the last exchange. Harriet Bland, who attended the prestigious finishing school, Mary Institute, later became Mrs. William Green.
