Muhammad Aslam

A national Pakistani recordholder in the 400 metre event, track athlete Muhammad Aslam competed at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, where he was eliminated in round one of the 200 metres, the quarterfinals of the 100 metres, and the semifinals of the 4x100 meters relay, the latter alongside Sharif Butt, Muhammad Fazil, and Abdul Aziz. He fared better at the 1954 Asian Games, taking silver medals in the 200 metres (behind Butt) and the 4x100 metres relay (with Butt, Fazil, and Abdul Khaliq). The same year, he was eliminated in the heats of the 100 and 220 yards events at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games, and took fifth in the 4x110 yards relay with Butt, Fazil, and Khaliq. He also played field hockey and cricket.

Following his retirement from active competition, Aslam served in numerous administrative capacities in athletics, including as secretary general of the Athletics Federation of Pakistan. He also wrote over a dozen books on sport and other topics. His son, Khawaja Junaid, won a bronze medal for Pakistan in field hockey at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and later coached the national team.
