Biography

Clarence, Count von Rosen was a man of varied sporting interests and helped found Swedish National Federations in rowing, football, skating, bandy, and tennis, often in concert with Viktor Balck. Count von Rosen was a top jockey, winning multiple European races, and his son, Clarence von Rosen, Jr., won bronze medals in jumping and eventing at the 1932 Olympics.

Clarence, Count von Rosen was doyen of the IOC from 1943 until he retired in 1948. At that time he was appointed as the second IOC Honorary Member, following Argentine Ricardo Aldao. He served on the IOC from 1900-48. He was a military officer and was Master of the Horse to the King of Sweden.
