Leonardo Lavalle was a Mexican tennis player who played professionally from 1985 to 1998. Lavalle achieved a career-best singles ranking of 51 in the world in March 1986, and a doubles ranking of 23 in the world in April 1992.
Lavalle started his career with victory in the junior doubles at the 1984 US Open with Romanian partner Mihnea-Ion Năstase. The following year he won the junior singles title at Wimbledon, beating Eduardo Vélez in straight sets. Lavalle won his first ATP doubles title at the 1986 Scottsdale Open with partner Mike Leach. His one and only ATP singles title was at the 1991 Tel Aviv Open with victory against Christo van Rensburg.
At Grand Slams Lavalle’s best singles performance came at the 1989 Australian Open when he reached the fourth round. He had better success in the doubles, reaching the semi-finals of the French Open twice (1988, 1991), and the final of Wimbledon in 1991. He competed in the singles and doubles at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and the 1992 Barcelona Olympics with his best result being reaching the singles quarter-finals at the 1992 Games.
