Dates | 20 – 26 July 1980 |

Medal Events | 7 |
The program was the same as in 1976, with seven events. There were two pistol events – free and rapid-fire; two rifle events – small-bore prone and small-bore three positions; two shotgun events – trap and skeet; and the running target event. Women again competed alongside men with all events mixed. Five women competed in 1980. All the events were conducted at the Dynamo Shooting Range. The US-inspired boycott definitely weakened the competitions as three top shooting nations – West Germany, Switzerland, and the United States – did not compete.
