As they did at every Olympics from 1932-1956, the American men swept the medals on the springboard. The gold medal went to Dick Degener, who had won bronze on springboard in 1932. Silver medalist Marshall Wayne returned a few days later to win gold on the platform, in his only Olympic appearance. The bronze went to Al Greene, also in his only Olympic appearance.
